Dr. Sanjoy Chowdhury is an honors graduate of Calcutta Medical college, who trained in Ophthalmology at the University of ALIGARH, receiving postgraduate “diploma “with university GOLD MEDAL and at the University of Delhi, India to bag the “ Masters degree (MS) “. He is a “Diplomat of National Board of Examinations” and is a very experienced microsurgeon with the special interest in Squint and community Ophthalmology mainly Leprosy. Recipient of best awards at state, national, international level. First batch ICO fellow(2002), International ophthalmology education award(2007) and International scholar award(2010) from American academy. More than 200 presentations,20 awards,25000 surgeries,5 patent applications in 20 years of career, started postgraduation, eye bank and cornea transplantation in industrial hospital, socially committed to eye care in leprosy and one of the youngest joint director (medical & health services) in our 900 bedded hospital. Basically a comprehensive ophthalmologist with special interests in Trauma, squint, community and social ophthalmology. Managing director’s trophy for Innovation awarded in 2012 leading to 4 “Patent - applications”. Invited speaker at 28th APAO –AIOS conference on LASER CATARACT SURGERY. He has presented many papers in uveitis and retina. One thesis is guided by me on uveitis and my paper “optic nerve diameter in CRVO” was selected as the best scientific paper in India in 2000. He has already been selected as a guest speaker on eye care in leprosy for WOC 2014 at Japan.
